I am REALLY excited to announce that I am planning on starting a blog series on eating a healthy, balanced Mediterranean diet. I grew up in a household where that is all I would eat and I credit my mom for teaching me all of her yummy Persian recipes. I remember standing in the kitchen with her and forcing her to let me cook something. I started with something easy like salad Shirazi (cucumber and tomato side salad) and that evolved into making stews, chicken kabobs and even desserts. We even cooked Israeli food, turkish food and Italian food. I want to start sharing a fusion of these recipes but make them easy to make for my friends, family and loyal supporters of the SJ blog. Another note, I am highly allergic to a lot of foods, so the key here is making it allergy friendly for all to enjoy. Allergies are becoming so common in households and wouldn't it be nice to cook a meal that can appeal to almost everyone? I understand some recipes just wont be the same, so I will make sure I indicate which ones are "allergy-friendly" (that I get to eat too!) and which ones are for you fortunate souls that can eat whatever you want!
My girlfriends and family always tease me with a Persian saying "it is time" (in Farsi), insinuating I am ready to be married because I can cook a solid meal (never happening). This all happened after I started hosting fiesta nights, Mediterranean nights, Italian nights, Parisian nights and spotlighted my cooking at a housewarming party. My mom's famous chicken roast recipe she taught me was the winner, so were my puff pastry dolmehs. I am going to welcome my friends and loved ones in the kitchen, Giada style (my fave chef girl crush) to enjoy all the food I am making. My best guy friend keeps pushing me to do YouTube channel and I am considering filming the recipes for you. Interested to hear your feedback on that. Email me javvy (at) savvyjavvy dot com.
In addition to cooking, I plan to also do beauty videos and behind the scenes of my photoshoots, travel diaries and travel prep. Making this more of a well rounded blog.
The first of this series will be around Persian New Year. I cannot wait to share it with you!
