My Festival Prep Essentials with Walmart

Processed with VSCO with j6 preset

Hi loves! So it is that time of the year again where it seems like every single human I know and follow on Instagram heads out to the desert to get their festival on and to sneak in a few solid grams for the month!

Going to a festival is like preparing for battle! You need to stay hydrated, look your best, get fit, be the most stylish you have ever been and somehow manage to still have fun. HELLO ANXIETY! To the people who do this two weekends in a row... you are my hero. I can only hang for 3-days and then I need a vacation from it all. Yes..sounds so obnox. But if you have experienced know exactly what I am talking about!

I want to make sure you all are truly prepping your body for not only this weekend but any trip you are planning on taking (a destination wedding, an adventure trip with your man or just overall great tips to follow on the regular). I stopped by Walmart to stock up on my beauty must haves. Walmart is my secret go-to spot for these sorts of things because of the range or products as well as the fact that I can be lazy and do all of my grocery shopping during the same visit (less driving is always needed in LA).

Last year after Coachella I came home with a bad sunburn, a cold and ended up in the hospital for not drinking enough water. You may have recalled from my stories last year being in the ER with kidney times. This year I wanted to make sure my body was prepped from the inside out and that I was looking my best! Therefore, H20 for the win.

-I started drinking 6L of water per day around two weeks prior to the festival to help clean out toxins and have healthy/hydrated skin. Sometimes I even add chlorophyll drops to my water as that helps to eliminate the bad stuff from your blood as well.

-Yoga 3x a week because festival days are LONG days and I wanted to make sure my body was in the best physical shape. I personally do hot yoga with weights (it is called yoga sculpt) and it kicks your bum and makes you feel like the slimmest version of yourself. YESSSS!!! Need to do this really 4-5 times a week for the best results.

-Pampering: I used Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub in Coconut Lime everyday the week prior to leaving, then moisturized with Neutrogena Body Oil after I showered and before bed I would use this super potent Bio-Oil to help tighten up skin and get rid of unwanted scars or marks (I am clumsy and fall a lot! Also helps with stretch marks and who doesn't have those?). Note: products found at Walmart.

-Protect- One thing I am going to stress to you is to use sunscreen and not to forget to reapply it. I burn pretty easily, so when I am in the desert I use a stronger SPF - specifically this Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 100 - LOVE the lightweight feel.

-Tan- I love having a base tan when I am out there (helps when trying to get a good gram in) so I use this L'OREAL Paris Sublime Bronze product the day before I head out to the desert. Note: products found at Walmart.

I am sure you all have your own glam routines but I really wanted to share what I did to feel and look my best for the festival! I loved going to Walmart for all of my festival beauty essentials because they have a wide array of products to help you get your glam on and at really affordable prices. Which is an added bonus because Coachella weekend is PRICEY! Anywhoo, I hope you enjoyed my tips and hope to see you all out there xoxo

I wanted to share a look that I found to be perfect for you busy ladies! Personally, I am traveling CONSTANTLY for work. It is either that I have a meeting 3 hours away from my house (6 hours of driving roundtrip...yuck!) or I have to fly somewhere for work-work or for blogland. I love the ability to get out of the house and have the opportunities to see different cities, but I must admit, the getting ready at 4AM to get to meeting pre-traffic or the airport for same day roundtrip travel is just tough sometimes. I partnered with my Clarins family and found some products that I fell in love with from their line. I wanted to show you how I put it all together in flight for my look pictured above. I literally got off the plane and went into a full days of meetings in SF and straight to dinner after with my gal pals from work. I used a spray to keep my makeup in place afterwards which really helped keep the whole look together.

Totally interested in hearing your opinion! I worked in collaboration with Clarins on this sponsored post, but the look and the aesthetic was chosen by myself. OBVIOUSLY :)

Get these pieces below so you look like you "woke up like this" without having to put on a TON of makeup.

Let's Talk Skin Hydration

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you may have noticed I am a bit of a skincare junkie. I truly believe in the importance of investing in your skin. We spend so much money on buying all organic and nourishing ourselves from the inside (which is the priority), but I also believe in treating topically. I believe in having a strict regimen that you follow every morning and night. Which the old me would have laughed and said NO way am I going to spend the dollars or the time doing such things. Well, until I started noticing a difference in my skin over the years and I was not too happy with how my skin looked and felt.

Some key things; proper exfoliation, antioxidants and hydration. I will write down my full year skincare regime for you soon, but for now I want to focus on one area: hydration. I lived in both NYC and Southern California this year and travel quite often for work, so my skin TRULY HATED me this year. I threw on random creams and moisturizers which in turn would just break me out and I was SO frustrated. As I am ready to embark on another NYC journey for fashion week, I am very excited to say I have tried out the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Serum and Moisturizer and I love them both equally and even more together. So far, no crazy breakouts or reactions from the formula.

With thermic shock, sudden changes in temperature and humidity, it can diminish skin's natural hydration capacity. What Hydra-Essentiel does, is it quenches thirsty skin and boosts skin's ability to retain precious moisture for all day hydration. If you are like me and are tired of your skin looking dry and weathered, then I suggest you try out this duo. It does not hurt and it works in any environment, which for me is a top priority. I hate having to travel to different places and bring a different serum and cream suitable for that environment. I want to invest in something I could use anywhere. Follow me along on Instagram and Snap @savvyjavvy to see how my skin is improving in the coming months!

PS a closer picture of my new glittery Italian made heels!

Start Your Year with a Flat Tummy

I wanted to start the new year looking good in my new clothes I got over the holidays, so I partnered up with Flat Tummy Tea to try their miraculous Four Week Fab to flatten out my tummy. I have a lot of food allergies and a very sensitive stomach so I am a stickler on what I put into my body. I liked FTT because it has natural cleansing herbs in it, so it helps you nix out the impurities in your body!

Every 2 nights I drank my Flat Tummy Afresh and in the mornings I drank my Everyday Flat Tummy. I stayed diligent and I got amazing results. Let's just say all of those holiday cookies are nowhere to be found! Kudos to you FTT, you are starting off my 2015 looking and feeling better!

DIY Beauty: Six of the Best All Natural Homemade Masks

I have listed my top five favorite at home organic mask remedies for your face! These are easy peasy to make and will save you a ton of money by making these with the ingredients you may already have stowed away!

1. GLOW It UP!

Want that dewy skin look you see on stars like Kim Kardashian? Try this honey and orange mask that also sounds so delicious you will want to eat it! It will only take a half hour out of your day!

Citrus Honey Boo Boo

3 tbsp orange juice

1/2 cup of honey

Directions: Combine both ingredients and apply it to the face. Leave on for a half hour. Rinse with lukewarm water. Follow that up by rinsing with cold water (close up those pores!). Do not forget to moisturize afterwards!

2. Soothe Me Up Buttercup

This is for you hard working mind and body! Take 30 minutes out of your day to apply this soothing mask filled with natural anti-inflammatory remedies. Nutmeg and honey are known to help reduce redness and swelling in your skin. I have a feeling you may want to eat this goodie mixture!

Nutty about You Honey

2 tbsp honey

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cinnamon

Mix all ingredients until a thick paste is formed. Apply paste to your face and relax for the next 30 minutes and let all of the nutrients absorb into your skin. Wash it off with lukewarm water in circular motions. The nutmeg and cinnamon will work to exfoliate your dull skin!

3. FEEL Alive and Awaken that skin!

Coffee mixed with cocoa? Reminds me of Christmas morning! This is a perfect pick me up for dry and dull skin! Let’s just say you may want to even drink some of it!

Cocolicious Mornings

8 Tbsp of milk (For thicker masks use less milk. You can also use almond or coconut milk. If you want to substitute these you can try an egg or even olive or coconut oil! Totally up to you)

4 Tbsp ground espresso or coffee beans. Shucks you can even use instant coffee!

4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (basically just use Hersey's you have in your cabinet already or any store brand)

2 Tbsp honey if you have dry skin or swap it with lemon juice if you have oily skin

Mix all ingredients to create a paste. Leave this on your skin for 20-30 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water in circular motions. Pat dry. Do not forget to moisturize afterwards!

4. ACNE is Not Your Friend

Personally I used to suffer with acne and it was not a fun or cute period in my life. I was tired of all of the chemicals I had to use to try to get rid of it, so I looked into natural remedies. Here is a good one that helps tighten your pores and controls your oily skin.

Eggy White and Acne is Not Nice

1 egg white

1 ripe avocado (mash that sucker up!)

1 tsp lemon juice

Combine ingredients with a wooden spoon. Apply to a clean face (avoid your eye area) and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse and continue with your regular beauty routine (ie: toner or moisturizer).

5. Bop Those Spots

This mask works wonders for those suffering with hyperpigmentation and sunspots. With millions of chemical induced treatments out there on the market, try giving your skin a break and try this at home remedy.

1/2 cup of mashed papaya

2 Tbsp honey

Blend together ingredients and apply to your face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Finish by pat drying with a face towel and applying moisturizer.

Enjoy loves!
